Temporary installations as catalyzer for conversations about needs in common spaces. Prototypes from participation in a workshop led by Luca Frei, Johannna Gustafsson Furst and Asier Mendizabal at The Royal Academy of Art in Stockholm.
Starting with a tour of the familiar, sharing our different perspectives on the “same” situation and agreeing upon a curiosity about what spatial conditions, small additions, support-structures could assist the constantly ongoing process of learning, teaching and working alongside each other in the school, temporary collaborations between students and teachers at The Royal Academy of Art were formed. A few days were spent prototyping, recognizing it as a way to expand the perceived potential of a shared space.
Recognizing the necessity of changing perspective, the value of curating a context, and how conditions influence work – as well as the necessity of constant spatial negotiation, agreed upon rituals and choreography in the space shared at the school – this prototype was one of a few developed. It invited discussions about signals in shared spaces – particularly invitations to discussion – as well as expected spatial potential and references that apprise you to spatial conditions.
